Christina + Aaron | Barcelona Wedding

December 24, 2011  |   4 comments

There is always something that little bit extra special about a destination wedding. I am not sure what it is, but weddings held over a couple of days give guests more time to get to know one and another and have a vibe that is always very special. This year has been an amazing year with some lots of travel and of my 40 weddings this year, 37 of those were in different locations which is something I really enjoy.

Christina and Aaron got in touch with me back in early 2010 about their plans and story behind their Barcelona Wedding. Aaron’s parents met in Barcelona and were also married in the Basilica de Santa Maria Del Mar. (Anyone having visited Barcelona will definitely know this incredible cathedral).

One of the great things about destination weddings is the pre-dinner or cocktail parties the evening before.  Christina and Aaron’s party took place in the Dominicas de la Presentación which was where Aaron’s mum attended school in her childhood – what a wonderful place for friends and family to sample Catalan canapés.

I guess the only possible “what if?” with a wedding in Barcelona in November might be the weather, but Saturday was the perfect day. All of the preparation took place in some funky apartments in the Gothic quarter of Barcelona, close to Basilica Santa Maria Del Mar. A big thanks to Jennifer for her shooting skills and her ” wedding emergency ” sewing kit which, yet again, saved a grooms man!

For a documentary wedding photographer the Basilica Santa Maria Del Mar is an amazing place to shoot – the sheer size of this cathedral is incredible and Jennifer and I were very lucky to be able to shoot with little restriction. After the ceremony we managed to explore some of the back streets in the Gothic quarter before making our back to Masia Egara, another beautiful venue in the outskirts of Barcelona.

After some very touching speeches, fine dining and great wine the party began.  I have been fortunate to have documented some Filipino weddings in the past – photographing the dancing is one of my favorite parts and Christina and Aaron’s wedding did not disappoint.  Wow, these people can certainly dance…. and dance….. and dance – there is no stopping!!

A big thanks to Christina and Aaron for inviting Jennifer and myself to Barcelona to document their celebrations.  It really was a perfect wedding!

Thanks to Christina and Aaron and family and friends for being the perfect hosts. A very Merry Christmas and happy holiday to you all.

Jo + Jose | Wedding in Fuengirola

December 6, 2011  |   0 comments

Back in November it made a pleasant change to work very close to home. I have known Jose and Jo for a few years and Jo is a long time friend of Dee and is also my Spanish teacher ( very brave ). After a wonderful ceremony with lots of tears at the Finnish church in Fuengirola everyone made there way to the reception at Suave by the sea. One question Jo and Jose did not have to worry about was the entertainment with Jose and friends supplying the fantastic music throughout the evening which was accompanied by the Photobooth which produced its fair share of amusing images!

It is not very often I get the chance to invite clients to the house to view the images for the first time and it really makes this job the best hob in the world when you can see peoples reactions for the first time, surface to say there was not a dry eye in the house.

Hope you enjoy a few of my faves.

Simon: Wowzer, I don't remember "the top of the rock" ever looking like that. You have romance in a place that I remember flocks of tourists and gangs of very naughty monkeys. I like them a LOT. ( December 3, 2011 8:37 pm )

Polly: Lovely, you did a fab job with your location and I think that spiral stair shot is amazing. So talented . ( December 1, 2011 7:46 pm )

Torrie + Henry | Wedding in Granada

November 15, 2011  |   0 comments

It is always great to work for clients who enjoy creative images and the combination of a wedding in Granada and the chance to document the day of Torrie and Henry was a perfect way to end September.

La Chumbera is tucked away in the hill side with magnificent views of the Alhambra and Granada and is a truly breathtaking spot for a ceremony and wedding. The service, food and overall ambiance of La Chumbera is a bit special and a big thanks to them for hosting such a magnificent wedding along with Theresa

After some great speeches and dining on the terrace it was time to get the party started which included some hilarious PhotoBooth images and dancing in the caves!

Destination weddings always have a very special feel about them and that is why I love being a part of them. Really hope you enjoy a few of my faves and if you would like to view the fabulous slideshow from this wedding then please .

Great working with you all.

Sabrina + Nick | Malaga Wedding

November 8, 2011  |   0 comments

September is often a pretty hectic month and this year was no exception with 10 weddings in total. I met Sabrina and Nick at the studio way back in the year to discuss all the plans. Sabrina’s parents have a beautiful villa not far from the venue of Sol Andalusi.

It is always great to shoot prep pictures in a family home and after the hair, makeup ( and horse-racing ) we all made the very short trip over to the hotel for the ceremony and rest of the days events. After a very moving ceremony conducted by Natasha it was time to Party! drinks and canapes in the courtyard with stunning views of the mountains before dining under the stars.

Sabrina and Nick even came back for more! they joined me for an hour or so a few days later to shoot a few creative portraits and despite my feet getting a drenching we got some lovely images. Such a pleasure working with you all and a big thanks to you and all your families for making me feel so welcome.

Really look forward to working on an album with you in the future.

Take care, Jeremy,

Mary & Diarm | Wedding in Nerja

November 2, 2011  |   0 comments

Way back in earlier September it was time to make the short journey to Nerja and meet up with Mary & Diarm. After a couple of phone calls and emails I could tell this was the kind of wedding I love to document. Mary and Diarmuid are both originally from Cork and from what I gather then spent many years in various other countries but not always at the same time, or something like that.

So naturally they now live in Zurich. Guests from all over Europe were at the ceremony in the charming litle church in Maro. It is always great when a family friend conducts the mass and Fr. Noel Kehoe made for a musical, moving and sometimes amusing ceremony.

After the ceremony it was back to Roca Rara near Nerja for cocktails and canapes before some lovely speeches and the partying into the night courtesy of Ian Prestonand the amazing music of Roberto Cantero. A huge thanks to Jenny, The Spanish wedding plannerand the team for running a great day.

Mary & Diarm also took advatage of the PhotoBooth and to view these please Click here

Great working with you both and really hope you enjoy a few ( actually alot ) of my faves from the day.
