Rajasthan | India | A collection of images

As many of may know Dee and I set off on an adventure to India for most of March. I didn’t know what to really expect from India but we have both been mesmerized by its people and places and are already planning another trip for next year. We visited Delhi, Ramathra fort, Rhantambore Bagh ( tigers ) , Jaipur ( Holi ) , Jodpur, Jaiselmer, Pushkar and Udapur ( our favourite place ) and used pretty much every available form of transport.

We have many friends who have been to India and most would agree that trying to describe India is not something easy, the wonderful people, the food, the noise, the dust, despite all the chaos though neither of us have probably every felt so calm as we did in India ( apart from the odd road trip ) this is certainly something I will never forget.

We saw many amazing things on our travels and the list of magical moments would be vast. As you can imagine trying to decide which images to share was not easy! we have sooooo many images between us trying to decide on 40 was not easy and I change my mind every day so I thought I would post some of my current favourites.

For the more techie ones amongst you, the choice of what to take was tough, my “day job” really only ever involves using 2 prime lenses but knowing what to take and travel light and be able to capture what I wanted was tough. I ended up taking a D700 and a couple of prime lenses and other than the safari it pretty much remained in my case, the real here for me was the little X100, nearly all of the images you see here were shot using this camera, and for a holiday camera it worked out great despite its little quirks.

Really hope you enjoy some of these images and Thank-you India we will be back ( very soon )

Pushkar ( Then home )

March 22, 2012  |   1 comment

Well our Indian adventure is sadly coming to a close, over the past 20 days we have visited a large part of Rajasthan and seen some amazing places and met some amazing people. Traveling and editing and posting images is a big challenge so I am really excited about getting back home and posting lots of images from all of our destinations. Pushkar is the final stop on our journey before we travel back and here are just a couple from here.

Anna, wedding photographer Edinburgh: beautiful; still on my destination list so haven't explored it yet but always interested in other photographers experience. ( April 20, 2012 11:07 am )

Well the amazing journey across Rajasthan continues. We have literally use arrived in Jaisalmer after an entertaining can journey from Udaipur via Jodhpur. Our 2 hour section of the journey along highway 8 from Delhi to Bombay was a little scary even for the hardened traveller. We stopped off at a couple of incredible places yesterday and rather pleased with this one. Will try and post a few more here and there but am shooting so many images I will probably hang on till we are back in Spain.

Ranthambhore

March 11, 2012  |   0 comments

Internet is very up and down from Ranthambore but thought I would share this one. Our holiday is very much a holiday whilst hoping for some nice images along the way and not a photography holiday as such so really very lucky to get this image of “muchly” from Ranthambore. The posse of professional wildlife photographers seemed a little unprepared as he wandered behind two vehicles it seems everyone here has enormous lenses but on this occasion the cunning wedding photography managed to get a half decent image. Today is a slower day so hoping to post images from Jaipur and Holi, internet permitting.

Ramatra fort.

March 9, 2012  |   0 comments

Well finally some time for some blogging! After a crazy few days in Jaipur ( more on that later ) we have now moved on to Rantambhore National Park after a short train trip from Jaipur. We are here for 4 days and have 6 safaris, not sure if it is the luck of the Irish but we went out today for our first safari soon after arriving and got up close and personal with a tiger! such and amazing experience.

Tomorrow we have an early morning safari followed by another in the afternoon but I suspect todays experience will take some beating!

We have shot soooo many images and I suspect I will be editing these for many weeks to come but will be posting images from Jaipur and the Holi celebrations tommorow.

Here are just a few images from Ramatra fort and village.
