Joan + Mark | Palacete de Cázulas

May 22, 2013  |   1 comment

Well what better place to get into the full swing of the wedding season than the always amazing Palacete de Cázulas. I have been documenting weddings here for many years and never tire of the beauty and mystic of this wonderful venue. I met Joan and Mark a long time ago and I think they were actually my first booking for 2013 and I was very much looking froward to this one.

Ruth ( her images coming soon ) and I made the trip up to Cazulas on an indifferent day to be fair. Up in the hills around Otivar they pretty much have their own weather system and I challenge anyone to predict weather at this place. As it turns out we had a bit of everything! and it gave Joan and Mark the chance to use up pretty much every inch of the venue, drinks outside, drinks inside, first course outside, the rest of dinner inside. ( You will see from the images the sudden change of venue )

Despite the challenges of the weather and some very willing and able guests and staff it was a day to remember! from the beautiful ceremony conducted by Padre Peter to the tear jerking speeches. It was my one and only trip to Cazulas this year which is kind of the way I like it. Till next time.

Thanks to…….

Everyone who helped move the table and chairs!!!

Kerala + Tamil Nadu

April 16, 2013  |   8 comments

Well after last years adventures in Rajasthan it was always going to be tough to decide on were to go for 2013. After perhaps 3 minutes of discussion it was unanamously  decided that back to India was the best bet. Rajasthan was a very different trip to this one although I think we loved them both equally. It is no doubt a challenge going on holiday with a photographer  ( although do get cool holiday pictures ) and as Dee only has a few weeks holiday finding a “balance” is always key so a few weeks in Kerala and Tamil Nadu seemed the perfect place.

We had heard amazing things about Kerala and we were keen to have a slightly easier holiday than our adventures the year before. We kayaked 40km’s through the backwaters of Kerala, visited tea plantations in Tamil Nadu, relaxed in our amazing beach house with ayurvedic massages and Yoga, yes me and Yoga!  and had a good share of amusing adventures along the way.

I travelled very light in the photography department this year and took only my X100 and Xpro1 with 35mm, 1.4. I don’t do reviews but I will say the fuji X series of cameras are phenomenal for travel especially. Really hope you enjoy viewing a few of our holiday snaps.

1st Place WPJA | Creative bridal portrait.

April 1, 2013  |   1 comment

I don’t enter lots of competitions but the WPJA is one I have always entered for several reasons. I think the first reason is it not solely judged by other wedding photographers but more non “wedding” photographers. There are some excellent organisations around but it is well knows that placing in the WPJA is harder than any of them and they receive more entries than any other. It is always a great thrill to get placed but until now I have never had a first place and a Gold Star! being placed is great I nearly fell of my balcong in India when I saw this image had won. I don’t usually shoot any “bridal portraits” per say but very glad I did on this occasion and plan to much more in the future.

This particular article truly did turn the light on for me personally as far as this subject matter goes. Nevertheless at this time there is one point I am not necessarily too cozy with and whilst I attempt to reconcile that with the actual central idea of the position, permit me observe just what the rest of the visitors have to say.Nicely done. My new travel website.

February 14, 2013  |   3 comments

“Travel” is probably one of my favourite words, it always conjures up excitement ( well most of the time ) so I thought it was about time I finally got around to putting a website together of some of my travel images. Currently the site has images from Rajasthan, India, Venice, Ireland with more to come.  I think for any photographers development it is so important to shoot a variety of work. I am guilty of not doing

this at times but a trip to Kerala, India is coming up shortly and this I hope will be an amazing place to photograph. The site is still very much a work in progress but I will be updating it as often as possible. You can purchase images and  giclee fine art prints shipped to your door. As for the images they are a not supposed to fall into any particular “genre” but just images I love and hope you do too.

2012 review

January 15, 2013  |   6 comments

Well better late than never! 2012 was a pretty amazing year. I documented 39 weddings in some truly breathtaking locations. It is very hard to select favourites from so many great weddings but here is a selection from every wedding I documented during the 9 month season.

A really huge thanks to all of the brides and grooms who entrusted me to document their weddings and all of the very talented vendors who have recommended my services. Thanks again and wish you all the very best for 2013 and beyond.

Bernie + Seamus | Wedding in Nerja

December 18, 2012  |   0 comments

Well every year comes to an end and the last wedding of the very long season was in the lovely Nerja with Bernie & Seamus. Some people might think that the travel from Ireland to Spain is a bit of a drag ( particularly if your flying Ryan Air ) but Bernie & Seamus travelled all the way from Perth, Western Australia for their own wedding which I have to say was well worth the trip!

Nerja is a stunning spot at the best of times but the middle of October is the perfect time, gorgeous light, milder temperatures, all the perfect ingredients for a very cool wedding. Despite lots of emails and some skyping I  had not met Bernie until the “knock knock” on the bridal suite door. I am not sure if its the same for everyone but I reckon I can get a good idea on the general feel for the day in the first 10 minutes, so its always good when one of the first noises of the day is a Moet cork!

One of the great bonuses of marrying in Nerja is that the Hotel Balcon Europa is a short walking distance to he church and with the beautiful October sunshine Bernie had a pretty decent audience to watch enter the church. After a lovely service it back over to the hotel for ccktails and canapes for all the guests.

Sunset from the Balcon are breathtaking. It really is a great spot for the wedding dinner and speeches and of course some authentic flamenco dancing under the stars. And can you really beat the feeling of sand between your toes during you first dance?

Always a little sad blogging the last wedding of the year but a huge thanks to Bernie & Seamus for making it so memorable and really hope you enjoy a few of mine and Ruth’s  favourites. If you would like to vierw the slidehsow from this wedding then please do! pop the kettle on or seeing as its Christmas grab a nice glass of wine and turn up the volume!  Bernie & Seamus Slideshow

A huge thanks to the following!

Merry Christmas everyone and enjoy the images!

Simran + Chris | Sikh Wedding in Sitges | Part 2

December 10, 2012  |   7 comments

Part 2! and if you missed Simran + Chris part 1  here it is. Well I said it was an epic wedding and it was as epic as it was long!  After all the colour and emotion of the morning it was time for more! After the guests had a little chill out back in Sitges it was time for the second wedding celebration back at Almiral de la font.

There was a slight sense of deja vu as the makeup girls got started on Simran’s next transformation. As the evening sun set the guests returned for more cocktails before and a candle lit ceremony in the Villa. The ceremony was not a complicated affair but once again you could really feel the emotion around the room shared by so many friends and loved ones.

After a short dinner interval! ( FYI the curry and all food was amazing! ) it was time to really get the party started and Jermaine and his band had everyone partying till the wee small hours and even the local police turned up to wish them well and if they wouldn’t mind awfully turning the music down a bit.

So after 2 days in Sitges with Richard between us we shot over 8000 images and on the “wedding (s) day ” shot for around 19 hours. Would I do that again in a hurry? Absolutely YES!

Huge thanks to Simran & Chris for being such amazing hosts and all the wonderful guests!

Simran and Chris: To the most amazing photographer that we have ever known! OH MY GOODNESS: WE ARE BLOWN AWAY, STUNNED and again AT A LOSS OF WORDS. Smiles cannot capture how we feel Our tears barely end before starting all over again We are still processing it all! We can't seem to find the right words, but when we do.. you'll be getting a copy of that chapter! YOU ARE AMAZING at WHAT YOU DO!!!! Jeremy, you are so incredibly talented in your field. The photographs (a word that barely skims the surface to describe your art) blew us away. We have not been able to respond because of the sheer enormity and impact they had on us. Your artistic talent has astonished us completely. We don't know what to say (even more so now)! We feel this message doesn't even begin to capture how we felt with looking at the images! We have viewed each image for hours on end. It took us 4 days to look at them all, and its going to take months to absorb the emotions you captured. You gave us the best Christmas present in our marriage so far! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!! We honestly don't know how you did it. Sorted, edited and put finishing touches on all images, Plus a slide show that released tears at the first melody. UNREAL! You are truly remarkable and it was the best decision ever to have hired you! Big Bear hugs to you, Richard and your fantastic team! You are EPIC! THANK YOU SO MUCH! Speak soon! Simran + Chris | Sikh Wedding in Sitges | Part 1

December 5, 2012  |   4 comments

I am not sure epic really covers it but when it comes to memorable wedding experiences this one will certainly take some beating. Why a part 1? Well Simran & Chris don’t do things by halves, and 24 hours is after all a long time and plenty long enough for not one but two weddings!

Touch down Barcelona Friday afternoon and time to meet up with Richard who was designated driver due to my mishap in Madrid a few weeks earlier. Richard is a top bloke, a very talented photographer and a great guy to have around at a wedding, however his driving is borderline shocking. So arrival in Sitges and time to meet Simran & Chris. We were a little late ( makeup thing ) heading out for our short pre wedding session but even with little light we just about had time to grab a few images on the beach and then headed to a nearby bar for some traditional tapas and henna ( as you do ). After saying a few hello’s it was time to head back to Almiral de la Font a very dreamy setting up in the hills above Sitges and as much sleep as possible before it all began.

And so it began…..Well an early start for most wedding photographers in this part of the world is maybe 3pm? so a 7am start is certainly unfamiliar territory and it took me a while to decide if it was early or late?  As Chris roamed the villa in his yellow towel Simran and her team set to work which was an amazing experience to document. As the sun rose things got busier and the team set to work creating and decorating the setting for the ceremony. I have documented many many types of religious ceremonies and it was a real treat to be able to share in what a was a really emotional part of the day and really hope the images show some of that.

Of course after any good wedding what do you need? CURRY! + COCKTAILS! absolutely amazing. After a very short interlude it was off down the hill to Sitges for a video session and a few minutes to grab some images of Simran & Chris. So had this been your normal old one wedding a day “wedding”  then it would have been off back for dinner but oh no. it was time for Simran & Chris “the next wedding”……………..see told you it was epic, more to come very soon.

Fotograf Bytom: A beautiful wedding indeed. I love the colors ! ( April 2, 2013 7:30 pm )
