Villa Candela Wedding | Cynthia + Wesley

“Its a small world”. Back in 2012 Cynthia and Wesley were guests at another epic Belgian Wedding in Spain that of Laila and Frank. Cynthia and I emailed back and forth and it was a great honor to be asked to document such a special event.

Cynthia and Wesley had already had a pre wedding shoot with Ruth much earlier in the year so we were both very excited about the prospect of documenting this small and intimate wedding in the stunning Villa Candela.

Whilst I love working with new people it always nice to be be closer to home and surrounded by familiar faces so it was great to be in the very capable hands of the team from Fiesta Sol, Kathryn Parr in charge of all beautification, and Ian Preston making sure no-one was going to bed early!

When we arrived Cynthia was raring to go! so much so she put her dress on, then took it of again and then put the dress on again and then took it off again. She did finally manage to put the dress on and keep it on, whilst Wesley and the boys prepared down at the pool house.

Taking of familiar faces, the lovely Natasha Johnson and her big beaming smile conducted a beautiful ceremony including a coin ceremony and the release of beautiful butterflies.

Villa Candela is a huge villa with many different spaces and Cynthia and Wesley made sure they used most of them. After the ceremony it was time for some delightful Fiesta Sol canapés in the shade of the courtyard at the main house.

Whilst the guests enjoyed refreshing cocktails the stealth team managed to transform the beautiful ceremony area into a stunning evening dining area in no time at all.

After a beautiful dinner and speeches it was time for a balloon release from guests before the cutting of the cake and of course the party! One should not underestimate the Belgians ability to party! I have been very lucky to document a lot of Belgian weddings and they seriously know how to party!

After a full 12 hours coverage Ruth and I were there for final sparkler send off. It was great to be able to stay for the entirety of the wedding. The following day I met up with Cynthia and Welsey for a couple of hours to shoot some creative portraits and we made our way to Mijas village whilst finishing the epic adventure by the sea, a big thanks to them both for enduring a bit of a soaking from the waves and me shouting garbled instructions at them from afar! but I think you´ll see the results were well worth the effort.

A massive thanks to Cynthia and Wesley for being so great to work with over the 2 days and Ruth for her fantastic work, not to mention all the awesome vendors who make these weddings so amazing to document.

And of course the added bonus of working with Belgians is the chocolate! Thanks guys they did’t last long.

J.
